Starting from July 5, 2017 amendments to the Russian Federation’s Air Code introduced by the Federal Law No. 291-
FZ have come into force, meaning that now it is necessary to register drones weighing from 250 grams to 30 kilograms in
accordance with the procedure established by the government.

So far, the registration is not performed, because the registration procedure has yet to be approved by the government.

According to the representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the drone registration procedure will be agreed upon by November of this year and then submitted for approval to the government. The procedure will become effective after all formalities are completed, which is expected to be no later than by April 2018, as stated in the Isvestiya Newspaper.

The database of accounting for drones will be placed in the unified state information system for transport security, the operator of which is defined by the FSUE "Zaschitainfotrans".
